Similarly, GitHub repositories are archives; The general purpose of a public GitHub repository is to preserve a record of discussions and changes to code and make it accessible to anyone who may be interested. This was appropriate for the exploratory nature of this analysis, in which I sought to identify if multiple variables could converge, defining ‘roles’ based on combinations of topics used together, proportions of different GitHub activities, and other variables. Therefore, to make a claim that these variables represent topics in a meaningful sense, they must be subject to evaluation.
